As practices go live with the electronic medical record, more people are able to access more patient information. Angela Oren, senior deputy privacy officer, spoke with Yale Practice about how to avoid non-compliance with HIPAA in this new environment.
The 1973 graduate of the Yale School of Medicine and former pediatrics faculty member will return as chair of the Department of Pediatrics. He was attracted back to campus by the “idealism, imagination and bold ideas” of the young people and students here.
Dr. Yarbrough comes from Vanderbilt University to lead the Section of Otolaryngology. He will direct the head and neck cancer program at Smilow Cancer Hospital, co-direct molecular virology research for Yale Cancer Center, and continue his research on tumors.
Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital opened a new pediatric specialty center in Norwalk in July, bringing radiology, a blood draw station and nationally known expertise in 13 Yale Medical Group subspecialties to families in Fairfield County.
The former carpenter says surgery is about problem solving—cutting away the bad parts and restoring things to as close to normal as possible. He specializes in minimally invasive and traditional surgeries, especially esophageal cancer.
